Growing Industrial Hemp with Hemcore
Thank you for your interest in becoming a grower of industrial hemp.
Industrial hemp now gives the farmer a profitable, alternative spring sown break crop with a guaranteed price and can play a major long term role in cropping plans. The crop can be grown in one of two ways, straw only and straw plus grain.
Additional benefits include:
- An Opportunity to earn over £1,000 per hectare with grain and straw production (Dual Cropping).
- Flexible sowing date from mid April to early June.
- Minimal herbicide use (Glyphosate pre drilling). No other chemicals required.
- Price set before sowing giving the grower certainty against a background of wildly fluctuating prices for the alternative crops.
- Hemp's growth rate helps clear the ground of resistant weeds like black grass and bromes.
- Good for rotation complete change from peas, beans, and rape.
- Hemp's deep rooting system is good for soil structure.
- Ideal after late sugar beet and vegetables.
- Spreads the work load direct drill wheat after hemp.
