Hemp Technology Hemp Fibres
Hemp Technology is a genuine world leader in the production and refining of hemp fibres for a range of modern industrial applications. Hemp fibre is well known for its extraordinary strength properties, which historically made it the favoured fibre for the production of ropes, sails and apparel. Now, thanks to the combination of high strength and low cost, combined with exceptional green credentials hemp fibre is finding many new uses.
For 16 years Hemcore, and now Hemp Technology, have supplied fibres to a diverse range of clients, but we focus on the production of two standard fibre specifications for the production of technical nonwovens and fine paper.
Technical Nonwovens
Our fibre for the production of technical nonwovens finds its way into applications such as automotive composites, insulation products and geotextiles. The fibre is designed to suit nonwovens produced on air-formed as well as carded and cross-lapping technology. The fibre is de-dusted, cleaned and any short fibres are removed to
help our customers achieve their targets of trouble free processing and also maximise yield and quality. Fibre length and fineness is accurately controlled within our production process.
The fibre is compressed into wire tied bales, each bale weighing 210 kg. We are able to ship 24 tonnes on a standard curtain sided trailer.

Fine Paper
Hemp fibre is known to produce exceptionally strong and fine paper. Our paper-grade fibre is short (<25mm) and free from any contamination that might interfere with the pulping process.
The fibre is compressed into wire tied bales, each bale weighing 100 kg. We are able to ship 22 tonnes on a standard curtain sided trailer.
Other Fibre Specifications
Our extensive and unrivalled experience in the handling and refining of hemp enables us to engineer fibre properties to suit a range of specialist applications. We can control fibre length and fineness. We can also align and accurately chop fibres to lengths as low as 6mm for certain specialist applications.
